Our South Australian Farming Operations are recruiting for an Agronomist to join their Agronomy Team. Reporting to the Agronomist Manager, the role of Farm Agronomist will provide support to the farming operations through the monitoring and reporting of our crops. Responsibilities You will work alongside our Farm Management Team and Agronomy Team to enable you to develop new crop monitoring strategies and methods, with a view to providing the latest agronomic advice through current technologies that maximise crop production. - Regular monitoring and reports on crops located in the Riverland-Mallee region
- Provide instructions and advice to farming staff on pests and disease control
- Monitor soil moisture levels and recommend appropriate irrigation scheduling
- Monitor plant nutrition levels and advise appropriate fertiliser recommendations
- Conduct quality assurance on crop performance and planting results and advise on crop yields at maturity
- Ensuring inputs are onboard and available on time
- Record field activity data into AgCommander to enable reporting across each stage of the crops lifecycle
- Assist with the reporting and documentation of results based on new varieties and trials
- Assist with planting schedules and crop husbandry
About you The successful applicant would have attention to detail with a can-do attitude and will need to demonstrate experience and competence in: - You will be tertiary qualified
- Have a hands-on approach and possess a strong work ethic
- You will have a passion for the horticultural industry and a drive to succeed in this field
- You will have sound communication skills and the ability to prepare reports for management teams
- You will be proficient in Microsoft applications
- Driver’s Licence
