We are unwavering in our commitment to delivering exceptional quality produce every time The Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Diesel Mechanic. located in picturesque Nildottie SA. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing agricultural equipment essential for the production and harvesting and grading of crops. Your expertise ensures that tractors, harvesters, and other diesel-powered machinery as well as grading and bin filling lines are operating at peak efficiency, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. You’ll troubleshoot mechanical issues, perform routine maintenance, and conduct overhauls to keep everything running smoothly during peak harvest seasons, ultimately contributing to the seamless flow of fresh produce from field to market. Key Responsibilities - Maintenance & Repairs: Conducting regular maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical issues on a variety of diesel-powered equipment, including tractors, harvesters, pl, and irrigation systems.
- Diagnostics: Using diagnostic tools to identify engine problems, electrical faults, or hydraulic issues and determining the most efficient repair methods.
- Overhaul & Rebuilds: Performing engine overhauls, transmission repairs, and replacing worn-out components to extend the lifespan of machinery.
- Preventative Maintenance: Performing scheduled oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and other preventive measures to reduce equipment failure during critical farming periods.
- Emergency Repairs: Responding to urgent breakdowns in the field to minimise downtime and keep agricultural operations running smoothly.
- Record Keeping: Documenting maintenance and repair work performed on each piece of equipment for tracking purposes and future reference.
- Collaboration: Working with farm operators and managers to assess equipment needs and provide recommendations on repairs, upgrades, or replacements.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring that all repairs and maintenance work is performed safely, in compliance with health and safety regulations, to protect both equipment and personnel.
What we are looking for - Relevant trade qualifications
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in agricultural machinery.
- Dedicated to maintaining high standards of workmanship and ensuring quality results.
- Capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Well-versed in Workplace Health and Safety regulations and practices.
- Possesses strong communication skills and effectively collaborates with colleagues and management.
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in dynamic environments.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform consistently under pressure and within time constraints.
- Holds a valid HR or above licence is desirable but not essential.
